                                            James E. Lockart Sr.
                                                1922-1923

Tonight we honor PM James Ethridge Lockart Sr. Our 2nd. :.W.M. of HP Lodge from 1922 -1923.

Brother Lockart was born in 1879 on Independence Day in San Antonio Texas.

He came to Dallas in 1902 and went to work for the firm of Dun and Bradstreet.

In 1920, Bro. James set up his own Insurance Firm.

I don’t have the dates that he was raised a Mason, but he was very active. He was a 32degree Scottish Rite Mason, as well as belonging to The Texas Chapter, Knights Rose Croix. He was  Honorary Inspector General. Also he was a member of Hella Temple Shrine. Later in life he was honored with the Scottish Rite 33rd degree.

1923, he was on the “Credentials and Registration” committee for the Masonic Reunion that year.

Bro. Lockart and his family lived at 3604 Linden Avenue in Highland Park. He was Married to Daisy Evens Lockart and they had one son, James (Jimmy) E. Lockart Jr.  who later became well  known in the aeronautics industry.

1924, Bro James was elected to the Highland Park City Councel an became the Mayor Protem. Also, he was one of the organizers of the city of Highland Park.

After a long illiness, on November 26, 1947,  Bro James Lockart passed away.

His services were held at the Ed. C. Smith & Brothers Chaple at 1811 Ross ave. —Ross Avenue being rich in Dallas history.

Two of his pall bearers were HP Past Masters; Dr. Harrison B. Cave, 1925-1926 and PM Roy F. Brown , 1929 – 1930. He had a second service held at “Crown Hill Mausoleum”.

Tonight we let Bro. Lockart live again in our hearts, may he continue to rest in piece.
